Long-term Efficacy of Dutasteride 0.5 Mg in Men With Androgenetic Alopecia: 5-year Data

Unlike in South Korea, Dutasteride  is NOT FDA approved in the United States to treat male pattern hair loss but it is widely used off-label. It has many of the same potential side effects as Finasteride, including: sexual side effects, mood changes, gynecomastia, post-finasteride syndrome, and other potential side effects. Finasteride remains the most studied FDA approved 5 alpha reductase inhibitor for hair loss and therefore the first line in therapy. Dutasteride is an effective alternative option for some patients.
